From 2022 (YouTube Edition): Before They’re All Gone... Humankind has been messing about in airplanes for almost 120-years. In that time, thousands of aircraft representing innumerable technologies, design philosophies, and aspirations both noble and contemptible have been built and flown. Airshows—the good ones—are lenses into aviation’s past. Events like AirVenture, Sun ‘n Fun, and Frontiers in Flight afford modern audiences glimpses of aircraft that shaped the world in war, and brought it together in peace. A peculiarity of time is the manner in which it converts ubiquitousness to scarcity. Airplanes that filled the skies in their respective epochs grow rarer, and rarer, and rarer still. The Boeing-247, the DC-3, the 727, Concorde: iconic aircraft all, and all passing, in turn, from relevance, to nostalgia, to obscurity, to oblivion.

“It was completely out of the blue. It was just amazingly quick. My crewmates definitely saw that I was in distress. It was all hands on deck within just a matter of seconds.” Source: NASA astronaut Mike Fincke's narrative about how he experienced a medical issue on January 7, roughly five and a half months into his Crew-11 mission. While preparing for a spacewalk and eating dinner, Fincke reportedly suddenly lost the ability to speak. This issue persisted for around 20 minutes and triggered immediate coordination between the crew and flight surgeons on the ground.

In its full-year 2025 report Tuesday, Vertical Aerospace Ltd highlighted significant progress in its Valo eVTOL aircraft development while revealing a challenging cash position that declined from $93 million to $58 million in the first quarter of 2026. The company’s presentation showcased the Valo aircraft as an industry-defining electric vertical-takeoff and -landing vehicle with specifications designed to compete in the emerging urban air mobility market. Israeli smart aircraft developer AIR says it has received orders worth $1 billion, with 3,300 customers currently on a waiting list for its AIR ONEeVTOL personal aircraft. This is in addition to more than $35 million in revenue generated from the supply of logistics aircraft and related equipment. One of the country’s oldest operating airports will be permanently shutting down at the end of 2028, after the FAA inexplicably agreed to its shutdown and betrayed much of Western Aviation. This unfortunately clears the way for a massive urban redevelopment project on some of Southern California’s most valuable real estate. This comes despite major pushback from city residents and recent interest from carriers like JSX. The future of the Cleveland Air show is uncertain beyond 2026 as the city explores the possible closure and redevelopment of Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL). As part of that process, the air show has been asked to evaluate a remote or overwater format, according to a letter that the Cleveland Air Show sent to air show fans. Pilot Determined That The Planned Landing Area Did Not Provide Sufficient Room For A Safe Landing Due To The Increase In Wind Speed Analysis: The hot air balloon pilot reported that he performed a safety briefing with all eight passengers before they boarded the balloon. During the flight the winds, which were forecasted to be about 3 knots at the time of landing, increased to 14 kts, gusting to 19 kts. The pilot determined that the planned landing area did not provide sufficient room for a safe landing due to the increase in wind speed and elected to divert to a more open area. The balloon crossed over a valley and encountered a downdraft, which the pilot said he unsuccessfully attempted to overcome using the gas burners.

From 2023 (YouTube Edition): Legacy of a Titan Robert (Bob) Anderson Hoover was a fighter pilot, test pilot, flight instructor, and air show superstar. More so, Bob Hoover was an icon of American military and civil aviation, and a man whose achievements in and out of the cockpit stand with those of Wiley Post, Richard Byrd, Chuck Yeager, Albert Scott Crossfield, and John Boyd. Hoover flew Spitfires in the United States Army Air Force during the Second World War. In 1944, he was shot down off the coast of France and held for over a year in a German POW camp. Ill-suited to captivity, Hoover escaped his Nazi captors, eventually stealing an enemy aircraft and flying it to freedom. After the war, Hoover plied his outstanding airmanship to test piloting, flying chase for Chuck Yeager's 1947 Bell X-1 supersonic flight and working as a flight instructor for North American Aviation during the Korean War.

The decision was announced in a video message from owner Mark Schaible -- citing declining sales, rising production costs, and mounting debt, even amid the much-anticipated release of its Highwing kit. The move follows several years of profitless work towards the HighWing launch and what Schaible described as a “perfect storm” of economic pressures -- including increased competition from used aircraft, reduced kit demand, and tightening cash flow. These factors also pushed Schaible and his wife into bankruptcy. Piston Aviation Flight School In St. Louis has suddenly closed its doors and the damages to the students involved with that school are mounting. Company President Joe Ord told students in an email that the email serves as their “official voucher” to use their flight hours at St. Charles Flying Service.
